What's the price per square foot for interlock pool decking in Metro Vancouver?

We did not find enough consistent published pricing to give a reliable per-square-foot range for interlock pool decking in Metro Vancouver. Pool decks are usually priced as part of a larger hardscape job, and the price depends heavily on the site, so a single number would not be fair to you.

What drives the price of a pool deck

• The paver itself. Pool decks often call for a slip-resistant surface. Ask which paver each contractor is quoting and why it suits wet bare feet.
• The base. Interlock depends on a properly excavated and compacted base. Ask how deep they excavate and what base material goes in.
• Drainage. Water from the pool and from rain has to drain away from the deck and the house. Ask where the water will go.
• Edges and coping. The edge where the deck meets the pool, and the edge restraints around the outside, are often separate line items.
• Access and removal. Tight yards, slopes and removing an old deck add labour.

Ask for the price broken out by area in square feet, the paver product, the excavation depth and base, drainage, coping and edge restraints, removal of any old surface, and cleanup. When each quote lists the same items, you can compare them line by line.

Ask each contractor to put the square footage and the paver they are quoting in writing, so the quotes compare like for like.
