How do I remove gum from a Vancouver paver walkway?

Gum removal from paver walkways requires either freezing the gum with ice to make it brittle for scraping, or using heat to soften it for easier removal. Both methods work well on concrete pavers without damaging the surface when done properly.

Ice Method (Recommended for Small Areas): Fill a plastic bag with ice cubes and hold it directly on the gum for 3-5 minutes until the gum becomes hard and brittle. Use a plastic scraper or putty knife to gently chip away the frozen gum. Work from the edges toward the center to avoid spreading it. This method works particularly well in Metro Vancouver's cool climate where the gum may already be somewhat hardened during fall and winter months.
